Half the pressure, twice the speed
Today was a happy one. I went to the airport to pick up my boyfriend, who was flying in from Miami and didn’t know I’d be waiting at arrivals. He brought me a little something something!
A couple of days before I asked him to order some Palomino Blackwings 602 pencils. When I went to New York, I searched art supply stores, because I wanted to try one so bad! Couldn’t find one. Today I got a whole box as my birthdaygift! Now I’m the proud owner of a deluxe edition with 24 pencils and sharpener.
I’ve been curious about these pencils after reading blogs comparing the pencil with the Eberhard Blackwing 602. These were produced since the 1930’s up until 1998 and have been a favorite among artists and writers. John Steinbeck used many Eberhard Blackwing 602 pencils for writing East of Eden and the Grapes of Wrath. They’re very sought after now, an original unsharpened Blackwing pencil costs over $25. But hey, I’m leaving the originals to the collectors. I’m happy to try out the recreation!
